A Sweet Fall Knitalong
Start with a form-flattering open sweater, add a border that pops with interest, and you have the Fiber Gallery’s fall knitalong, the Sweet Root cardigan. The sweater was designed especially for us by up-and-coming designer Cory Ellen Boberg of indie.knits. A Northwest design deserves Northwest yarn, and so we paired it with Imperial Yarn’s delightful sport-weight Tracie Too. Like Imperial’s other yarns, Tracie Too is spun from the company’s own herd of Columbia sheep raised near the eastern slopes of Mount Hood. It’s light and springy and a delight to knit. Join us this Saturday, August 8, as we drag our dyepots out into the street and rustle up a few batches of hand-dyed yarn. If you’d like to try dyeing, dress for a mess and come anytime between noon and 5 p.m. Or just show up and watch. In addition to our demo, there will be tons going on all along Greenwood Avenue as part of the the annual Summer Streets celebration. The road will be closed from 65th to 87th streets and you can wander among concerts, performances, and other mini-events on every block. Our parking lot, off of 83rd Street, will still be open.
