Fiber Artist Featured at Art Walk
Fiber artist Maile Jones will be featured at the Fiber Gallery this weekend during the 20th annual PhinneyWood Art Walk. She’ll be among more than 100 artists participating Friday May 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday May 9 from noon to 5 p.m. Jones will be showing pieces from her River Series, as well as the storms and fires of nature, painted on rug canvas in wool fabric, roving, handspun yarn, dyed locks and sari silk. During last month’s Art Walk, our special guest Moxie Lieberman decided that we needed a yarn faucet. She poked and sculpted wool all weekend and left us with this inventive and inspiring sculpture for our shop. We are awed.

Our featured artist for the 19th annual Phinneywood Art Walk is not only well-regarded for her work with fiber arts — she’s also a customer of ours! Moxie Lieberman’s primary medium is needle felting, but she also expresses ideas with embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, e-textiles and more. Her work has been shown in galleries in Seattle, New York, Los Angeles and more. She’s taught thousands of people to needle felt in dozens of settings, including both the Frye and Bellevue Art Museums, The Exploratorium in SF, and the Maker Faire Bay Area. Moxie’s work will be featured in the store Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5. Her work will be joined by that of 150 other artists at multiple locations in the area.
