Quick Start! Learn to Knit Basics
One 2-hour session. Get an introduction to basic terms and kinds of yarns. Learn to cast on and do the knit stitch in this drop-in class. Bring or buy needles and yarn.

Cost: $30
First Thursday of the month, 6:00 to 8:00

 

Beginning Knitting
Three 2-hour sessions. Get started on your knitting career. Learn to cast on, knit and purl, and increase and decrease in this class for novice knitters. Bring or buy needles and yarn.

Cost: $90

Continuing Knitting
Three 2-hour sessions. Take the next step in your knitting with the help of an instructor. This class is designed to get you moving forward and developing new skills. You choose your project and we will assist you along the way in a supportive group atmosphere.

Cost: $75

Learn to Knit for Kids (and Parents, Too)
One 1.5-hour session. Learn to knit and start an easy, fun project. Buy or bring supplies. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

Cost: $25 per person.

Easy Basic Hat
Two 2-hour sessions. Learn the basics of knitting a hat, including knitting in the round on circular needles and double-points and your choice of edgings. This is a great class for novices who already know how to knit. Buy or bring supplies (list provided at registration).

Cabled Hat
Two 2-hour sessions. Learn how to make multiple types of cables and tips and trick for reading charts. (Note: class has homework that must be done before class.)

Colorwork Cowl
One 3 hour class. Learn how to read charts and knit stranded colorwork in the round. Must be able to knit and purl confidently and knit in the round. (Note: class has homework that must be done before class.)

My First Socks
Three 2-hour sessions. Learn to knit in the round using traditional double-pointed needles, then turn the heel as you create your first sock. This is a great portable project — once you start, you’ll be hooked. Prerequisite: Must be able to knit and purl. Buy or bring supplies (list provided at registration).

Ishbel Shawl
Two 2-hour sessions. Knit the popular Ishbel Shawl by Ysolda Teague. Learn about top-down shawl construction and how to knit lace, including reading charts.

Cost: $60
Saturdays March 30 & May 11; 1:00 to 3:00

 

Market Bag
Two 2-hour sessions. Knit the Ilene Bag, a slouchy market bag with a wide, comfortable strap. This is a great class to develop your skills – you’ll learn about picking up stitches and some basic lace work. A washable cotton or linen fiber will make the bag practical and easy to clean. (Note: class has homework that must be done before class.)

Steek This!
One 3-hour session. Cutting your knitting doesn’t have to be scary. In this class you’ll learn all about steeking, and get a chance to practice on a simple coffee cup cozy. You’ll also learn tips and trick for adapting patterns to be worked with a steek. (Note: class has homework that must be done before class.)

Project Help
Get individual help with any knitting problem, or learn a new technique.

Cost: $10
Every Thursday, 6:00 to 8:00

 

The Ode to Irene Knit-Along:
Our winter Knit-Along kicks off Saturday, February 23 from 4 to 6. Come by as we cast on our projects. We’ll offer plenty of help plus refreshments and door prizes. If you can’t make the party, you’re welcome to knit along at your own pace and can still come for other events.

Support Session: Join us on Saturday, March 30, 3:30 to 5:30 for socialization or to get a little help with your project.

Finale party: Saturday, May 11 from 4 to 6. Bring your finished (or partly finished!) projects for show and tell. Enjoy refreshments and door prizes.
