Dear Customers and Friends:
It is with very mixed emotions that I’m putting The Fiber Gallery up for sale. This business has been my baby, and for 12 years I’ve watched her grow and bloom. I will miss her terribly every day.
However, babies grow up and parents move on to new phases of their lives. I will be 63 at the end of this year. The store’s lease will be up for renewal at the same time, so it seems a good time to make a transition. I’m hoping to find a new owner with energy and a love of fiber arts who will continue what I’ve started and make the business even better.
I’m eternally grateful to my terrific staff and my wonderful customers who’ve made the Fiber Gallery part of their lives, too. Many of you have become dear friends. Our weekly groups have become a community, and a mutual love of yarn has led to close social ties. I’m never happier than when I’m sitting at the big table listening to conversations among our smart, funny, opinionated craftswomen.
Don’t be surprised if you see me around the store even after the sale – I doubt that I will be able to stay away, whether as a teacher, a part-time helper or just a customer.
Meanwhile, if you’ve ever had a yen to go into business, let’s talk! The life of a yarn store owner involves hard work and not a lot of money, but your days will be filled with color and creativity.
Thanks, everybody, for 12 great years!
Mary
